Just Too Good To Pass Up – “The Push for an American Baby Boom”

My blogs are usually 30 to 40 weeks in the “hopper” before being published. It doesn’t ensure quality as much as assure against “poison pen” posts. (And poison pen letter is another expression that will have to be defined for anyone under 20 or mayhaps even older.)

This was on today’s NPR’s “On Point” broadcast between 9 and 10 AM. I don’t normally listen to NPR for this, but I was on my way to the chiropractor and I got hooked. You can listen to the 46 minute podcast or read it as well from the link below. Please note the passing references to abortion or “reproductive rights”, and note that the “experts” were only women who at the most had 3 kids. At the outset they admitted that we need more babies being born in the good ole’ US of A, but we don’t want to go back to the dark days of 4 or 5 kids! Lions, and tigers, and kids; Oh my!

The push for an American baby boom

The Trump Administration wants more Americans to have babies. It’s proposing a $5,000 “baby bonus,” among other policies. Would this fix the nation’s historically low birth rate?

About Paul Harris

Pastor Harris retired from congregational ministry after 40 years in office on 31 December 2023. He is now devoting himself to being a husband, father, and grandfather. He still thinks cenobitic monasticism is overrated and cave dwelling under.
