The headline for November 4, 2024 https://www.sciencealert.com was Scientists Found a ‘Yellow Brick Road’ at The Bottom of The Pacific Ocean.  This is exactly what we would expect if Psalm 104:6-9 is a description of how the Lord drained the earth after the Flood. It would produce spectacular things.

Here are the relevant verses in Psalm 104:6-8 (NASB77): “Thou didst cover it with the deep as with a garment; The waters were standing above the mountains. ⁷  At Thy rebuke they fled; At the sound of Thy thunder they hurried away. ⁸  The mountains rose; the valleys sank down To the place which Thou didst establish for them.”

If indeed what was then mountains or high plains or above ground sank below and the sea floor became the continents. We would expect to find roadways at the bottom of the ocean. Brick roads almost 2 miles below the surface of the sea and sea shells at thousands of feet above sea level. Since this, in fact, is what we do find, this is evidence of catastrophism not uniformitarianism.

Let’s review our terms. Evolution depends on the latter. The processes which we see going on today have always been going on consistently for millions of years.  Look at the National Parks Service’s website for the Grand Canyon. It’s interesting that they do think there was some catastrophic evident. The action of plate tectonics uplifted the whole region 30-70 million years ago. Then beginning 5-6 million years ago the Colorado River began to carve its way downward. “Still today these forces of nature at work slowly deepening and widening the Grand Canyon” (https://www.nps.gov/grca/learn/nature/grca-geology.htm#:~:text=Scientists%20know%20that%20the%20Colorado,the%20present%20day%20Colorado%20River.). We will have to see if indeed there are ancient brick roads at the bottom of the Pacific. This is a warning not to have your faith “live” by science because if it does it will most certainly die by it.[i] Science will tell you the healthiest way to live for the longest amount of time, but it also tells you when you’re dead you’re dead. Game over. If these are manmade bricks, they are traces of the antediluvian civilization that the Flood destroyed. What also fits with the Biblical narrative is that the oldest civilization’s we have records of are all about 5,000 years old.

Only a wizard could build a road at the bottom of the sea – or make you believe there is one there. One thing is for sure for scientism: Almighty God couldn’t make it so seashells are on mountain tops or roads are on seabeds. Nope, only physical processes going on for millions and billions and trillions of years could do that. Drop by drop, drip by drip, grain by grain and so faith in the Creator God is eroded along with faith in the Redeemer God who has done even more miraculous things than flip-flopping earth and sea. He overcome sin, death, and devil for sinners by the God-Man, Jesus.

[i] Look up the finding of Noah’s Ark or more recently the Shroud of Turin. Over the last 40 years or more you will find science and/or scientists intoning alternately gravely our excitedly that the Ark has been found or not, that the Shroud is “proven” real or not.
